Overview

The current JoyCon Left/Right control options have motion controls set as if the JoyCon is being held vertically. For games such as Super Mario Party Jamboree which require you to hold your "single JoyCon" controller horizontally, this causes the motion inputs to be off by 90 degrees unless you hold your controller at an angle. Having an input setup that accounts for this would be great.

Implementation Options

It would be great if there were a control scheme that allows motion controls to work as intended when holding a JoyCon horizontally. Alternatively, an option in Motion Control Settings that allows users to pivot motion control inputs by 90 degrees could work, similar to what already exists for Left and Right Stick.

New input option

Why would this feature be useful?

This feature would be useful for players using motion controls on non-JoyCon controllers, during games that require single JoyCon control setups such as Super Mario Party Jamboree.

As far as I remember, older versions of Yuzu (2020 or 2021 builds from another emulator) didn't enforce specific controller type detection. For example, if a game required the Left Joy-Con and you were using the Pro Controller or paired Joy-Cons, everything worked fine. The game wouldn’t block the loading of a minigame or event, nor would the emulator repeatedly prompt for a controller type change to proceed. Since both controllers (Pro Controller or paired Joy-Cons) use horizontal motion, all games worked with the correct orientation. I'm not sure if this information is helpful, but I recall that when they 'fixed' this 'issue,' the nightmares began.
